What it the cost to register on this site?

Nothing. There are no registration fees for buyers or sellers.

How much does it cost for sellers to place listings?

Cost specifics are explained here. Costs can also be found within your Account Information Page by logging in to your personal "My Account" pages.

Is this site secure?

Internet security is a broad topic with several areas of concern.

The site is open to the public to view. This means any personal data you place into your ad is visible for all to see.

To limit fraudulent activity and spam emails do not put email or other personal information into your ad.

Have everyone contact you through the site software.

Your transactions are protected by the latest encryption technology but you should always be vigilant when contacted by any user.

Never pay through Wire transfer, always use secure payment methods and follow secure payment requirements for full protection.

Always go directly to payment sites such as Paypal, never use links emailed to you.

How do I find what I'm looking for?

You have several options:

We offer a "quick search" bar at the top of our pages for you to enter keywords and categories to search.
We offer an Advanced Search page for you to refine your search criteria.
If you already know what you are looking for you can browse the categories listed on the left side of the site's pages.

Can I save items to revisit later?

Yes. You can maintain your own "favorites" list within your account. Each listing on our site has an "add to favorites" link. Simply click that link and we will add that item to your favorites list.

What if I can't find what I am looking for?

You can set up search filters within your account area. Our site will then screen all new listings, as they are placed on the site, and if an item is listed that meets your filter (search) criteria, we will automatically send you an email notification.

How do buyers and sellers communicate with each other?

We provide buyers with the ability to contact the seller through a form that is accessible on each of the seller's listing pages. The seller will then be notified by email of the buyer's questions and the seller can either reply by email or log in to their account and reply through our onsite messaging system. The seller can choose to keep their email address anonymous.

How do I renew an active or soon to expire listing?

In the grey toolbar under the nawcc4sale banner (upper left side) you will see a link "My Account". If you are logged in and click on the link you will go directly to your account page. On the left side colum you will see options for your ads. If you are not logged in go to the blue NAWCC link upper right side of the page and follow the links from there.

How do I renew an expired ad ?

Same as above and when you view your ads there will be a link to renew expired ads. Expired ads will be available for renewal for 90 days only and you will also have to upload images again if you used our hosting service.

Registering an Account on 4Sale$NAWCC

Registering on the 4sale Classifieds site is a 3 step process.

IF YOU ARE NOT AN NAWCC MEMBER, click the Register link at the upper left hand corner of the page where it says "Welcome, Guest." Follow the instructions there to create a public user account.

IF YOU ARE AN NAWCC MEMBER, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:

1) The first step is to login using your NAWCC Login, which uses your email address and a password.

Go to http://4sale.nawcc.org and login using the blue NAWCC LOG IN button.

Your NAWCC Login username is the email address we have on file with your membership. Your password will be the one you have chosen. If you have not created an NAWCC internet account as part of your membership, contact us at webmaster@nawcc.org and we will gladly help you to set one up.

Once you have logged in with the NAWCC Login you can then proceed with the second step of Registering.

2) A page will open with multiple membership user options. Click the radio button next to the account option that meets your needs. Most members should begin with Member Basic:

Member Basic: Most members will find this the most economical way to meet their needs.
This level includes up to 5 free ads at anytime plus two free photos per ad.

3) Click the Submit button. The Registration page will open up. Your required information should already be there (only the boxes next to the words in blue are required). At the bottom of the page you are requested to enter a Username and a Password and confirm the password. This may be confusing because this username and password are used by the 4sale Classifieds program to identify you. Think of it as a "display name" for others when they are viewing your items listed for sale. Since you are an NAWCC member, you should always use the blue NAWCC LOG IN button to access the 4sale site (as well as the main NAWCC site and the Message Board). Accept the terms of use and click on the Submit button. You will then receive a confirmation email to which you need to reply (instructions are in the email). Then you can login to the 4sale site.

Note– If you keep getting a question in the Security Warning Box you can turn that off by doing the following:

Click on Tools at the top right of the Internet Explorer Browser Page. A drop down menu will appear.

At the bottom of that menu click on Internet Options. A box will open up with tabs across the top.

Select the Security tab, then at the bottom of that box click on Custom level. A list of options will display.

Go to the Miscellaneous section and scroll down to the Display mixed content option. Enable that option by clicking in the radio button presented.

Now click OK to save and close the box and then click OK to close the Internet Options box. You shouldn’t be prompted with the question any longer.

Placing Ads on 4Sale$NAWCC

There are two software functions on the site: Auction Ad and Classified Ad. Under the Classified Ad function, there are For Sale Ads and Wanted Ads.

To place any type of ad, click on the "Sell/Edit Ads" link in the navigation bar above the general content area.

On the next screen you will see links on the left for:

    * View Cart
    * New Auction
    * New Classified
    * Add to account balance

If you want to place an Auction Ad, click on "New Auction." On the next screen you will see:

    * Clocks For Sale
    * Pocket Watches For Sale
    * Wrist Watches For Sale
    * Tools For Sale
    * Parts For Sale
    * Books, Videos and Ephemera For Sale

Pick one of these categories and fill in the form to describe your item. You can then upload pictures of the lot.

If you want to place a Classified Ad, click on "New Classified" at the first screen. On the next screen, you will see both For Sale and Wanted categories:

    * Clocks For Sale
    * Pocket Watches For Sale
    * Wrist Watches For Sale
    * Tools For Sale
    * Parts For Sale
    * Books, Videos and Ephemera For Sale
    * Clocks Wanted
    * Pocketwatches Wanted
    * Wristwatches Wanted

    * Parts Wanted
    * Horological Books and Ephemera Wanted

    * Announcements
    * Business Services

The first 6 categories are the same as the Auction categories but are for a fixed price direct-contact sale rather than an on-line auction. If you have something to sell but do NOT want to auction it, select one of those categories.

The next 6 categories are similar, but are for items "wanted" rather than "for sale." Currently the ad form for these is the same as for the For Sale categories. If you want to BUY something, select one of these categories.

There are two additional categories for Notices and Business Services. Business Services is similar to other For Sale classifieds, but the offering is a "service" rather than tangible goods.

If you place your ad in the proper category, it is more likely to be successful. If you accidentally place it in the wrong category, notify the 4Sale Administrator and it will be corrected for you.
