4Sale$NAWCC opens to the Public!

Our new online home for auctions, trading, and classifieds is now officially open to the general public. That means buyers who are not NAWCC members may register here to browse and buy (but not to sell-- only card-carrying NAWCC members are allowed to sell items via this site). We consider this an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate the extremely high quality of horological merchandise being traded and sold among our membership, and a great way to make some of that bounty available to public collectors. Remember, however, that all who use this site are expected to act in strict accordance with our NAWCC Member Code of Ethical Conduct. With our new Paypal-based automatic billing features as well as the money-transfer protocols in place on the new site, we hope to become just as convenient as other online auction services (and hopefully a lot less expensive). Both members and non-members are encouraged to shop around, exchange the horological wealth and knowledge, and just generally share the fruits of the wonderful hobby we all love so well.

    Our new auction support software is now active and ready for live testing by our members!
    This new software option extends our traditional eMart capabilities into whole new areas of functionality and usefulness. Now your online trading at 4Sale$NAWCC can be the equivalent of 1-stop shopping. Shop, bid, purchase and pay online, easily and safely. 4Sale$NAWCC fully supports PayPal, enabling users to bid on items directly, in the manner of other auction sites such as eBay, etc.

    Our $0.15 insertion fees and 3% final value fees for online auction transactions are much lower than those of other auction sites such as eBay. You can bid safely among your fellow NAWCC members, knowing that all fees and proceeds earned by the new auction site go directly to the support the NAWCC, and its many endeavors.

    Once final testing is complete, the site will be opened to the public so that buyers who aren't NAWCC members can bid on auctions. But only NAWCC members will be allowed to run online auctions or sell via this site.

SCAM ALERT!

Recently, several new users here have been approached via email about items they are listing, or have been offered incredibly good deals on wanted items. In several such cases, it has turned out that the unknown emailer was neither an NAWCC member NOR EVEN A REGISTERED USER OF THIS SITE-- instead, they were con artists lurking in the shadows, emailing legitimate users from outside the board and offering phony identities. In at least one case, a member sent a money order to just such a scam artist and never received the ordered item. It was later discovered that the supposed seller was a con artist, operating outside the continental U.S.A.

We ask that all users of our service please be cautious in dealing with others via the internet. Be careful sending personal information to others; JUST BECAUSE THEY SAW YOUR LISTING ON 4SALE$NAWCC DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THIS SITE!

Beware of paying for your merchandise via Money Orders. Once a money order is sent, that sum can never be retrieved if the seller turns out to be fraudulent.

Be wise, take advantage of the security features here, and have fun buying, selling, and trading! Enjoying the many aspects of horology is what the NAWCC is all about.
